Sex & Magic

Is sex magical? What role does pleasure play in your life and/or in your spiritual practices? Join Sex Educator Mary Adelle and MoonHaven Co-founder Julie Skaarup to discuss the history of ecstasy as a non-cognitive experience that has fascinated magical and spiritual traditions for generations. We'll delve into the non-binary nature of the universe and the binary tendencies of the mind, and how these concepts influence our understanding of what it means to embrace pleasure. The afternoon will include an opportunity to work with candles, including candle gazing and playing with the wax, as a sensual and magical medium for immersing yourself in the senses in a magical way. We'll enjoy the aroma of essential oils that are supportive for sexuality, and incorporate them into our candle magic. You'll leave with instructions for the creation of your own candle intentionally designed to set the mood for your practice of pleasure so that you can bring the knowledge of this workshop into your daily life. 

Julie & Mary Adelle are both certified aromatherapists who are passionate about pleasure and embodiment and can be found working at Anam Cara Apothecary in downtown Frederick.

Parking is limited to metered street parking. If you don't mind a brief walk, you could park at the free spaces near Baker Park and walk a few blocks over to meet us on Patrick Street. 

When entering from the front door, there is a partial staircase between rooms.
